Elliotte Friedman, SportsNet insider and incredibly reliable source, reported this afternoon that the Flyers have signed right winger Tyson Foerster to a contract extension.

Per Friedman, it is a two-year deal and will be $3.75 million. Anthony DiMarco, Daily Faceoff, was the first to report, later confirmed by Friedman. According to Kevin Kurz, the deal is a straight salary and will keep him a restricted free agent. Kurz also mentioned that the deal will pay Foerster $3.5 million next season and $4 million the following year.

This is a good deal for both sides. The Flyers have him under control for two more seasons at a cheap price. Foerster also has the freedom not to be locked up long-term at 23. He has the chance to prove himself and earn a big payday in a few years. Foerster is betting on himself, and the odds are in his favor.

For the second straight year, Foerster had a 20+ goal season, including the 25 goals he had in the 2024-25 season. At 43 points, he was fourth on the team in scoring and second in goals. He also had two game-winning goals and a hat trick this season.

On a team with more depth down the middle, those numbers would likely look much better. Foerster has steadily developed into an important part of the Flyers roster and is beginning to show leadership qualities.

Tyson Foerster was drafted 23rd overall by the Flyers in 2020 and made the big club two years later. Philly has had a lot of success drafting late in the first round with recent notable picks including Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny, and Scott Laughton.

As the Flyers continue to develop, locking up young players becomes increasingly important, and this is a win for the Flyers. While the right wing is perhaps the only area where the Flyers have depth, Foerster has been a standout.
