Flyers must end this exhausting cycle or risk total fan revolt

Philadelphia had another disappointing season in 2024-25, leading to their fifth straight year without a postseason. That being said, it should not be surprising that the Flyers faithful are starting to lose their fandom with these results.

To make matters worse, the Flyers will not only have to find a full-time replacement for head coach John Tortorella’s axing near the end of this season, but also find a brand new coaching staff as a whole next season.

Losing their faith in the orange and black

Any kind of fan from the South Jersey or Pennsylvania area who roots for one of the four major Philadelphia teams has a deep passion for that team. They bleed green (Eagles), Red (Phillies), Red, white, and blue (76ers), and ultimately orange for the Flyers. But, as the failures continue to pile up for this franchise, the other sports are amongst the best in their respective sports and professional leagues.

Fans are starting to get rambunctious about the lack of success. When is it going to get better? Will it ever get better for the Flyers?

The Flyers have an exciting, young, and prosperous team with much upside. Well, that is the long-term plan anyway. These younger stars like Matvei Michkov, Bobby Brink, and Tyson Foerster are still very much coming into their own as NHLers. Those three could very well be the future superstars of this organization, and General Manager Daniel Briere will have to focus on building around them.

Better luck next year

If the Flyers do not make it into the postseason in 2025-26, this six-year playoff drought will be the longest since the five-year gap between 1989-90 and 1993-94. The Flyers must try to pull out all the stops to make it into the postseason, or they might lose some of their fandom forever.

Yes, this lack of success is daunting, but there are some other teams that have it much worse. The Flyers are in a position that they can be great in time, but for now it is just a waiting game.

In the darkest times, the most noblest of fans stick it out.
