The Philadelphia Flyers probably brought the most positive vibes to the city for their run this past season. They shocked the world by making the playoffs as the third place team in the Metropolitan Division, and won their first-round series against the rival Pittsburgh Penguins. Even with the additions by other teams in their division, the Flyers are still considered one of the favorites to contend for the Stanley Cup in the Metropolitan.
The Flyers are on a high. The Eagles will remain a contender for the Super Bowl entering this season. The Phillies are within a handful of games of claiming first place in the NL East from the Atlanta Braves. The 76ers, meanwhile, made some big news on Friday for the offseason.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the 76ers signed LeBron James to a two-year, $8 million contract. It was an incredibly team friendly deal, as he joins a team that already has Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown.

Following the theme of the entire offseason after watching the rival New York Knicks win the NBA Championship, most teams in the Eastern Conference made aggressive moves. Considering the 76ers were swept by the Knicks in the second round, the pressure was high to improve upon the roster. First, they traded away Paul George to acquire Brown from the Boston Celtics. Now, they bring in one of the best players of all time in James on a two-year deal.
Yes, an entirely different sport, but all four major professional sports teams in Philadelphia should have legitimate chances to win championships within the year.
The Flyers' roster is in good shape heading into next season, as they retained their key players on new contracts. From Dan Vladar to Trevor Zegras to Jamie Drysdale. With ample cap space and draft capital at their disposal hat's why in the process of re-signing Zegras and Drysdale, Flyers general manager tried to bring in Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson on a five-year, $18 million per year offer sheet. This was a team that was young looking to make a big leap in the power rankings to improve their chances of winning a Stanley Cup. While they did fall short with the Ducks matching the offer, it goes to show how serious they are about contending and that they'd be more than willing to make a huge splash to do so.
Look, Philadelphia sports is in good shape in the calendar year, but with James on the 76ers, the pressure has increased tenfold. We'll see if the Flyers can take that next step this upcoming season and bring in one of many titles to Philly.
