The Lehigh Valley Phantoms' first month of the 2026-27 American Hockey League (AHL) season is now completed. The Phantoms had a nice reprieve between Oct. 17 and Oct. 24, in which they had a full week off of games. Unfortunately, their rest might have been too nice, as the Phantoms were trounced 7-2 by the Syracuse Crunch.

Luckily for the Phantoms, they woke up on Oct. 25 and shutout the Belleville Senators 2-0. Unfortunately, in their last game of the month on Oct. 30, the Phantoms lost 6-3 to the Rochester Americans. Despite a rough start to the 2026-27 season, the Phantoms still had players who made the most of their time on the ice.

Zayde Wisdom

Despite the Phantoms' poor performance against the Crunch, they started off on a good note. Zayde Wisdom opened the scoring for the Phantoms with his first goal of the season. This marked the assistant captain's first point of the 2026-27 season. He also scored against the Americans on the 30th.

Wisdom has been a part of the Phantoms team since the 2020-21 season. In his last six seasons with the team, he has grown as a player and as a leader, earning the "A" to show that he is an assistant captain. As the season progresses, Wisdom will be a player to watch to see how he continues to grow, both on and off the ice.

Jack Studnicka

The Phantoms managed to score two goals against the Senators on Oct. 24, which allowed them to shutout Belleville. Both goals in this game were scored by Jack Studnicka. He already received a call-up to Philadelphia this season, where he played in three games. In Studnicka's return to Lehigh Valley, he scored his two goals.

Studnicka went back to the Phantoms with something to prove: he wants a roster spot on the Flyers. He has shown his offensive prowess in the AHL; now he needs to translate that to the NHL.

Phantoms standings after October

After 10 games, the Phantoms end the month with a 4-5-1 record. They are second-to-last in the overall Atlantic Division, with just the Springfield Thunderbirds sitting under them. The Phantoms had a turbulent start to the season, just like their NHL affiliate team, the Philadelphia Flyers.

November is now upon us, and the Phantoms, and the Flyers, have the chance to turn their fortune around.
