The only thing that most sports journalists are discussing when it comes to the Philadelphia Flyers is the changes that desperately need to be made. After a loss to the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 13, the Flyers are now winless in their first eight games to start the season.

Ahead of the game on Tuesday, the Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco put out an article detailing the changes the Flyers could make to stop the downward spiral they are currently on. The article, of course, mentions a coaching change, but then it details what players the Flyers could potentially move.

One of the most interesting tidbits of the entire article is the section surrounding Travis Konecny. Di Marco praises Konecny for the success he has had with Philadelphia in the past. However, it immediately takes a negative turn when he discusses the growing frustration surrounding Konecny within the Flyers organization.

“Speaking with sources Monday, there is a growing sense of frustration from within the Flyers organization with Konecny. According to one source, Konecny doesn’t isn’t overly impactful when he isn’t scoring or antagonizing the opposing team. The play often dies on his stick, making bad decisions with the puck that often lead to turnovers. As one source said, the one-constant on the Flyers’ struggling power play the last number of seasons has been Konecny – a fairly-damning criticism.”

As the frustrations grows between Philadelphia and Konecny, there are a few options the Flyers have surrounding the forward.

Flyers could ask Konecny to waive his no-trade clause

Konecny is not contributing to the team in the way the Flyers have hoped. As Di Marco stated in his article, Konecny's performance is only meaningful to the team when he is either scoring or antagonizing the other team. Otherwise, he has no real meaningful place on the ice with the Flyers. Konecny is only on year two of his eight-year contract extension he signed with the Flyers. If the team is already frustrated by his performance, this is not the kind of level of play they will expect for the next seven seasons he is signed on for.

For Konecny to waive his no-trade clause, an offer must come through that he would be willing to take.

Flyers could wait it out

Konecny has been an excellent producer in the past for the Flyers, leading Philadelphia in points for the last five seasons. The team desperately needs points, so if Konecny can get out of this funk he's in, he could benefit the team greatly in their offense.

However, who knows how long this funk could continue? The entire team seems to be in a funk, but it's Konecny who is clearly the most vocal about it.

The Flyers have a great offensive threat in Konecny on their team. However, he's only that good of a threat if he is actually producing the points they need him to.
