After a strong performance against the Bruins, the Flyers will be looking to win consecutive games for the first time this season. They will have to do so against the St. Louis Blues.

This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams who are very much in similar situations. Each team will be looking to get their season on track.

Philadelphia Flyers

As John Tortorella stressed on Thursday morning, the Flyers need to find a way to string consecutive good games together. That has been a problem for them this season. In the third season of their committed rebuild, the importance of continuing to get better has also been a focal point.

A lot of that falls on the younger players on the team, which includes the likes of Morgan Frost, Tyson Foerster, and Owen Tippett. Each of them has their own skill set, but has gotten off to slow starts this season. For Frost, he continues to show the consistency issues that have been a problem in the past. Tippett has been mostly unlikely when it comes to hit shots not either the net or catching the post. Foerster just scored his first of the season and that could open the floodgates.

While Sam Ersson will be the starting goaltender once again, Aleksei Kolosov will continue to get a look at the backup goaltender. With Ivan Fedotov struggling, this is a perfect opportunity for the Flyers to see what else they have in the net.

Flyers Projected Roster

Travis Konecny - Sean Couturier - Matvei Michkov

Owen Tippett - Morgan Frost - Tyson Foerster

Joel Farabee - Scott Laughton - Bobby Brink

Noah Cates - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway

Travis Sanheim - Rasmus Ristolainen

Nick Seeler - Jamie Drysdale

Emil Andrae - Erik Johnson

Sam Ersson

St Louis Blues

While the Blues are in a similar situation to the Flyers, they have not fully committed to a rebuild. They have been stuck in the in-between that Philadelphia was in before now. Regardless, it has been a rocky start to the season for them. They will be coming in desperately looking for a win after an 8-1 loss to Ottawa.

The Blues two newcomers this season have started strong. Dylan Holloway leads the team with four goals. And Philip Broberg is second with eight points. General Manager Doug Armstrong looks smarter and smarter by the day for his offer sheets on the two.

The numbers may not show it, but Jordan Binnington has looked like his usual self in between the pipes. He’s been a victim of poor defensive play in a majority of his games still, he’d like to have better numbers than he does right now. In seven games, Binnington has posted a 3.12 GAA and a .895 SV%.

Blues Projected Roster

Alexandre Texier - Pavel Buchnevich - Jake Neighbours

Brandon Saad - Dylan Holloway - Jordan Kyrou

Brayden Schenn - Radek Faksa - Zack Bolduc

Alexey Toropchenko - Oscar Sundqvist - Nathan Walker

Ryan Suter - Colton Parayko

Phillip Broberg - Justin Faulk

Scott Perunovich - Matthew Kessel
