After four straight road games to open the season, the Philadelphia Flyers will play in front of their home crowd for the first time this season. It will be a rematch with the Vancouver Canucks.

The two sides met just over a week ago in Vancouver. It was a back-and-forth affair that needed extra time to find a winner. Morgan Frost would give Philadelphia the extra point with the shootout winner. Sam Ersson and Kevin Lankinen were stellar in net, posting identical goals-against averages and nearly the same save percentage as well.

The Flyers have scored at least three goals in every game this season, topping out at four in the loss to Seattle. So while the offense has been there, it isn't translating to wins just yet. They'll need to tighten up defensively.

The Flyers will be happy to play at home after their road trip ended with three straight losses. They did earn three points with the game against Edmonton needing overtime as well. But with three losses in their first four games, they won't want to let the losing linger for long. A good dose of the Wells Fargo Center crowd should help.

The home opener will mark the first time Matvei Michkov and Jett Luchanko will play in front of the home fans in the regular season. Michkov has gotten off to a solid start both offensively and defensively. He has shown a willingness to be physical and block shots. He also has four points, scoring the first two goals of his career in the loss against the Oilers.

Luchanko doesn't have a point yet, but he hasn't looked completely out of place. The team has complimented his maturity and the way he sees the game at this level. Will that be enough to keep him around if the offense doesn't come? We will see.

The Flyers will put their power-play goal streak on the line against the Canucks. They've scored on the man advantage in every game this season. Vancouver is 10/13 on the penalty kill. On the flip side, the Philadelphia PK has yet to give up a goal during a traditional 5-on-4. Their goals against have come down two men or in a 4-on-3 situation.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks have had a slow start to the season as well. They posted their first victory of the season in an overtime win against the Florida Panthers. Before that, they had blown a 4-1 lead against the Flames and never looked in it against the Lightning. They do have a point in three of their four games, though.

Brock Boeser is off to a solid start as he has posted two goals and four points to begin the season. It's a good start for a player looking for his second consecutive 40-goal season. Quinn Hughes has also provided some offensive prowess as he too has four points. He scored his first goal of the season in the win over Florida. The defending Norris Trophy winner continues to show more willingness to shoot the puck. He had a team-high nine shots against the Panthers.

Lankinen has been a solid signing for the Canucks. Coming in as extra insurance with Thatcher Demko still sidelined, he has given Vancouver more than they could’ve asked for. He was in net for the team’s first win of the season in their last game. In two games, Lankinen has a 1.89 GAA and a .932 SV%.
