The Flyers have lost four straight while the Capitals have won three straight. Will the streaks end tonight?

The Flyers could use a victory. But it won't be easy as they welcome in a Capitals team that has won three of their first four games to start the season. The two teams will face each other in back-to-back games.

Philadelphia finds themselves in an early hole, dropping four of their first five games. They're coming off a disappointing 3-0 shutout in their home opener. After returning from a four-game road trip, they looked flat for a large majority of the game.

The Capitals have done the opposite. After losing their season-opener to the Devils, they've fired off three straight wins. Their last was a wild back-and-forth game with those same Devils. Washington held leads of 3-1 and 5-3, but New Jersey stormed back each time. It took a Tom Wilson overtime goal to end the game.

The teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum right now.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers did get good news on Monday afternoon as Nick Seeler confirmed that he will make his season debut against the Capitals. He had been sidelined after taking a puck off a nerve in his leg on Oct. 1. The defenseman provides much-needed energy and emotion to the Flyers.

There could be some other lineup changes as well. Scott Laughton is questionable to play as he and his wife are expecting their first child. Danny Briere had a plane ready to go if Laughton's wife went into labor during their road trip. She is due any day now. Laughton has had a strong start to the season. He leads the Flyers with two goals and four points. Three of those points came in the loss to the Kraken.

Jett Luchanko didn't skate in line rushes during practice on Monday so he could be out. Nic Deslauriers could also make his season debut as well. And Noah Cates is likely to return as well.

Without a morning skate, it's hard to know exactly how the Flyers will line up, but these are the lines that took to the ice for practice on Monday afternoon.

Washington Capitals

It has been a hot start for the Capitals. A team that squeaked into the playoffs last season, Washington is out to prove that it wasn't a fluke. They've scored 16 goals in their first four games, though they've allowed a total of 14. However, that number is slightly skewed due to the five they surrendered to the Devils. Nonetheless, the Capitals have enjoyed plenty of success early on.

The offense has come from multiple places. Tom Wilson leads the team with five goals as he has scored in every game this season. Dylan Strome leads the team with seven points and is coming off a three-point outing. He also has a point in every game thus far. John Carlson leads the way on the backend with five points. He too has a point in each of the Capitals four games.

Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren have evenly split time in the net so far this season. If the Capitals keep that trend going, it should be Lindgren who faces the Flyers on Tuesday. That would give Thompson the Wednesday game. Lindgren was in the net for the Capitals' only loss this season but won his second start. He's posted a 3.06 GAA and a .893 SV% to start the season.
