For the first time since the beginning of the season, the Philadelphia Flyers and Calgary Flames will face off.

A lot has changed for both sides since their early season matchup. Both are fighting for the playoffs in their respective conferences. Calgary is currently clinging to the second wild card in the West, while Philadelphia sits four points out in the East.

This game is important to both teams, not something that was expected to be the case at this point in the season.

Philadelphia Flyers

Tuesday's game will mark the returns of Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to the Wells Fargo Center. It has been a little over a month since the two were traded to the Flames. Frost has two goals and three points while Farabee has one goal in the 10 games they've played since. The two have not produced much offensively, though the entire team has struggled over their recent few games.

Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier will play their former team for the first time as well. Both have fit in rather well with the Flyers. Kuzmenko has helped spark the power play with two of his three points coming on the man advantage. Pelletier has shown the hunger for the puck he has been said to have. He also earned his first assist with the Flyers in the blowout win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Since coming back from the break, the Flyers have seemed like a new team. They've beaten both the Oilers and the Jets. They've scored four or more goals in three of their last four games. Calgary is last in the league with 2.53 goals per game, and are in the middle of the pack with 2.92 goals against per game.

Andrei Kuzmenko - Scott Laughton - Travis Konecny

Nick Seeler - Jamie Drysdale

Egor Zamula - Rasmus Ristolainen

Calgary Flames

While holding onto a playoff spot at the moment, things have not gone well offensively for the Flames in their last few games. They were shut out in two straight games to Tampa Bay and Florida. Nazem Kadri's goal in an eventual overtime loss to Carolina broke a 171:34 scoreless drought. The Flyers know something about long droughts.

Speaking of Kadri, he and Jonathan Huberdeau lead the Flames with 44 points apiece. It's Huberdeau who has the team lead with 22 goals, but Kadri is right behind him with 21. Matt Coronato has had an impressive season in his second full year with Calgary. He has career-highs with 15 goals and 31 points, good for third and fourth on the team respectively.

Dustin Wolf is the biggest reason the Flames are in a playoff position and should earn some Calder votes thanks to his play. The rookie goaltender has been excellent for Calgary in his first full season in the NHL. On 36 games played, he has a 2.58 GAA and a .913 SV%. Wolf also earned his first two career shutouts this season. If Calgary hangs on to a playoff spot, they can thank Wolf.

Flames Projected Lineup

Blake Coleman - Mikael Backlund - Joel Farabee

Yegor Sharangovich - Morgan Frost - Martin Popisil
