Less than a week after shocking Winnipeg in their home barn, the Flyers will try to do the same on their home ice when the Jets stop by for a Thursday evening matchup.
Ivan Fedotov put in one of his best performances of the season, allowing just one goal to a lethal Jets offense this past weekend. It’ll be Sam Ersson’s turn to shut down the Jets.
Philadelphia Flyers
Ersson, like the rest of the team, struggled against the Flames on Tuesday. He was pulled after allowing three goal on nine shots, lasting not even 10 minutes. It was a rare outing in which Ersson looked completely lost in the net. But there’s no hesitation in going back to him as there is a total belief in what Ersson has been for a large majority of the season.
It wasn’t all bad against the Flames as Noah Cates continued his hot streak with his fourth goal in the last three games. He now has a career-high 14 goals this season. Cates has put last year’s struggles behind him and proven to be the player the Flyers saw his rookie season.
The Flyers do need more from Travis Konecny. Stuck in a slump, Konecny has five points over his last 11 games. Move that even further back and he has just one goal in his last 15 games and two goals in his last 22 games. The Flyers have gotten offense from other places, but Konecny is in need of some offense of his own.
Flyers Projected Roster
Tyson Foerster - Noah Cates - Bobby Brink
Andrei Kuzmenko - Scott Laughton - Travis Konecny
Owen Tippett - Sean Couturier - Matvei Michkov
Nic Deslauriers - Ryan Poehling - Jakob Pelletier
Cam York - Travis Sanheim
Nick Seeler - Jamie Drysdale
Egor Zamula - Rasmus Ristolainen
Sam Ersson
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets are still easily one of the best team’s in the league, but they have lost three straight games. They lost a tough one to the Islanders in their last game. For Connor Hellebuyck, he’s now lost two straight after an eight game win streak.
The Jets are still a tough opponent regardless of their current play. Their power play is still the best in the league and they are giving up the fewest amount of goals per game. The Flyers managed to score one goal in the last game, taking it to a shootout to get the other goal to win it.
They won’t have to face Hellebuyck as Eric Comrie will get the start of the Jets. While he’s only appeared in 15 games this season, Comrie has put up string numbers. He has posted a 2.56 GAA and a .912 SV%.
Jets Projected Roster
Kyle Connor - Mark Schiefele - Gabriel Vilardi
Nikolaj Ehlers - Vladislav Namestnikov - Cole Perfetti
Nino Niederreiter - Adam Lowry - Mason Appleton
Morgan Barron - David Gustafsson - Alex Iafallo
Josh Morrissey - Dylan DeMelo
Dylan Samberg - Neal Pionk
Logan Stanley - Colin Miller
