Flyers vs Kings, Game 33: Notes, Lineups, And How To Watch

No time to dwell on a disappointing loss as the Flyers host a rather hot Kings team.

Just over 24 hours later, the Flyers are back on the ice. After a loss in Detroit, they are home to take on the Los Angeles Kings for the first time.

This will be the first of two matchups, taking place over the next week and a half. Philadelphia will head to Los Angeles for their annual post-Christmas West Coast trip on Dec. 29.

The second half of of back-to-backs has not been kind to the Flyers. They are 1-4-0 and have been outscored 22-14.

Philadelphia Flyers

Puck management will need to be miles better against the Kings. The Flyers had far too many defensive lapses and gave up more than a few odd-man rushes to Detroit. It's hard to win a game when you're constantly chasing things. The Kings have played well lately and are tops in the league at goals-against at 2.52. So scoring may come at a premium. Take the opportunities when they come.

Scoring by committee is one way to keep everyone involved. The Flyers have seen that lately. While Travis Konecny has been a consistent scorer, other players have begun popping up on the scoresheet. Noah Cates tallied his third goal of the season last night. Ryan Poehling potted his second. Owen Tippett has found his confidence again, grabbing his 10th of the season. Spreading out the offense, especially against a stingy team like the Kings, can go a long way.

After coming minutes away from a shutout in his last appearance, Aleksei Kolosov will be tasked with stopping the Kings' attack. Grabbing the backup role with his strong play, Kolosov is looking to win his second straight appearance and fourth in his last six games. In 10 games, he has a 3.05 GAA and a .889 SV%.

Flyers Projected Roster

Joel Farabee - Sean Couturier - Travis Konecny

Owen Tippett - Morgan Frost -- Matvei Michkov

Tyson Foerster - Noah Cates - Bobby Brink

Scott Laughton - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway

Cam York - Travis Sanheim

Egor Zamula - Rasmus Ristolainen

Nick Seeler - Jamie Drysdale

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings have found themselves playing quite well recently. They are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, though are coming off an overtime loss. They had leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but couldn't close out the Penguins. They come in fresher than Philadelphia with that game having been played on Tuesday.

Anze Kopitar is still finding ways to contribute at the NHL level. The 37-year-old leads the Kings with 35 points, posting five in his last five games. His scoring has taken a dip, but he is just as strong at everything else as he always has been. It's Adrian Kempe who leads Los Angeles with 16 goals. He has four in his last five, along with seven points.

Darcy Kuemper and David Rittich have shared the net rather equally so far this season. The expectation is that Kuemper will start his third straight for the Kings. He has posted a 2.32 GAA and a .915 SV% in 14 games. He has a win in three of his last four games, giving up one goal a piece in each.

Kings Projected Roster

Alex Turcotte - Anze Kopitar - Adrian Kempe

Kevin Fiala - Phillip Danault - Alex Laferriere

Warren Foegele - Quinton Byfield - Tanner Jeannot

Samuel Helenius - Akil Thomas

Mikey Anderson -- Vladislav Gavrikov

Joel Edmundson -- Brandt Clarke

Jacob Moverare - Jordan Spence

Kyle Burroughs

Darcy Kuemper
