After a rather convincing win against the Blue Jackets, the Flyers are back home to face the Red Wings.

This is the first matchup of the season and the teams will see each other again six days from now in Detroit.

Philadelphia Flyers

Matvei Michkov continues to be exactly what the Flyers were hoping for. He’s on a personal best five-game point streak and can become the third Flyers’ player to have a six game streak while 20 years old or younger. During the streak, he has three goals and 10 points.

Travis Konecny has been red hot this season as well. He has points in 16 of his last 18 games. He’s on base to have his best offensive season, posting 15 goals and 34 points in 29 games. He and Michkov have led the way offensively, but will continue to need help from other places. Owen Tippett has come alive with five goals in his last five games. His line with Michkov and Morgan Frost has been one of the team’s best as of late.

While Sam Ersson is the Flyers’ top netminder, a decision has been made on the depth behind him. Aleksei Kolosov, who will start tonight, is the number two goaltender. Ivan Fedotov is the third string. Things can change, but the early indication shows the Flyers have liked what they’ve seen from Kolosov.

Flyers Projected Lineup

Joel Farabee - Sean Couturier - Travis Konecny

Owen Tippett - Morgan Frost - Matvei Michkov

Tyson Foerster - Noah Cates - Bobby Brink

Scott Laughton - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway

Cam York - Travis Sanheim

Egor Zamula - Rasmus Ristolainen

Jamie Drysdale - Nick Seeler

Aleksei Kolosov

Detroit Red Wings

Detroit’s recent win over Buffalo broke a season-high five-game losing streak. It was a back and forth game that needed a third period comeback from the Red Wings. They scored twice in the final 10 minutes before finding the edge in the shootout.

Lucas Raymond is pacing the Red Wings with 30 points, while Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat both lead with 12 goals a piece. The latter has four goals in his last seven games while Larkin hasn’t scored in seven straight. It’s been a rather disappointing start for Vladimir Tarasenko as he’s only scored four goals in 27 games.

Cam Talbot hasn’t played since Dec. 1 after suffering a lower-body injury, but he will be on the ice for this one. If all goes well in warmups, he will be the starting goaltender. In 15 games, the 37-year-old has a 2.73 GAA and a .915 SV%. If he can’t go, it’ll be Ville Husso.

Red Wings Projected Lineup

Alex DeBrincat - Dylan Larkin - Lucas Raymond

Michael Rasmussen - Marco Kasper - Patrick Kane

Andrew Copp - J.T. Compher - Vladimir Tarasenko

Jonatan Berggren - Joe Veleno - Christian Fischer

Simon Edvinsson - Moritz Seider

Ben Chiarot - Jeff Petry

Erik Gustafsson - Albert Johansson
