For the third and final time this season, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Detroit Red Wings will face off.
Detroit is the only non-divisional opponent that the Flyers will face during the next two weeks. Their next five opponents following this game will all come from the Metropolitan. It will be a key opportunity to make up points.
But first, the Flyers have to deal with the Red Wings.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers have been playing with a healthy amount of confidence lately, bringing a five-game point streak into their matchup with the Red Wings. They're finding offensive scoring depth, with players from up and down the lineup contributing to victories. Their goaltending has settled in as Sam Ersson has stepped up since returning from injury. And they continue to play for each other every night.
They'll do that without Scott Laughton, who is out of the lineup as he deals with a family matter. As the clear heart and soul of this team, other players will have to step up in his absence. That includes off the ice as well. With tonight being the Flyers Pride Game, Joel Farabee will take the reigns from Laughton, who normally hosts and meets with members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Rodrigo Abols will be making his long-awaited NHL debut. After signing with the Flyers in the offseason, the 29-year-old has spent the season with the Phantoms. After spending the last four years in the SHL, Abols was willing to give his NHL dream another shot when Danny Briere called him before the deadline to sign European players. But he wouldn't pass up the opportunity that didn't come his way a few years ago.

Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings, while playing well overall in January, have lost three of their last four games. They've faced some tough opponents, losing to Tampa and Dallas. They were outscored 9-2 in those games. They also dropped a 6-3 decision to the Sharks a week ago. Before that, Detroit had won seven in a row.
Lucas Raymond continues to have another strong season after putting up 31 goals and 72 points last season. He has 19 goals and 50 points in 46 games and is on pace to break both of those highs from last year. His 31 assists have him on pace to set a high in that category as well. Dylan Larkin is also having a solid season, leading the team with 20 goals. He has seven points in his last five games.
A former friend of the team, Alex Lyon, will be in the net against Philadelphia. He's missed some time this season, appearing in 18 games. He's posted a 2.73 GAA and a .900 SV%. Against the Flyers, Lyon has won two straight, though he allowed four goals in his last outing. He also has a 30-save shutout.
