The Philadelphia Flyers are coming into 2024-25 with mixed expectations. Some folks have them as playoff contenders and some have them as bottom feeders. We will soon find out which level they are at.

One player that could make a major difference is Joel Farabee. At this point, he is the 14th most important person in the Philadelphia Flyers organization. There are a lot of good things he can bring to the team.

Farabee does not lack skill. There is a reason that he was the 14th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. Throughout his first few seasons in the NHL, he has gotten better and better.

In 2023-24, Farabee had his best year yet in terms of goals (22), assists (28), and points (50). Eclipsing the 20-goal/50-point mark is far from easy and it came in his age 23 season. The fact that he’s this good early in his career is telling when it comes to his potential.

The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping for big things from Joel Farabee

If the Flyers are going to take another step as a team on the ice, Farabee needs to advance his game even further. Can he turn 22 goals into 32? Can he turn 50 points into 70? The skills needed are there.

Farabee's production up to this point is not anything to look away at. Scoring 20 goals in the NHL is hard. The fact that most are confident that he can do even more is a major compliment to him.

Some new players are coming to the Flyers this year that may help everyone’s offense have an uptick in production. Farabee isn’t one who’s expected to be their leading scorer but he can be one of the stars on the team.

The Flyers need to have young players step up to the plate. Farabee isn't at the top of the list but he is close. By this time next year, if he has an explosive year, he might be much higher on the list.
