The Philadelphia Flyers don't have Carter Hart anymore. They have moved on and are looking for players to fill the void of a starting goaltender in the organization.

One player that is in line to have a chance is goaltender Ivan Fedotov. He may get a fair amount of starts with the Flyers in 2024-25 and that makes him one of the more important players on the team.

As of right now, he is the 15th most important. He came over from Russia last season but he joined the Flyers as they were on the downward spiral toward not making the playoffs.

He went 0-1-1 in three appearances with a .811 save percentage and 4.95 goals against average. Those are bad numbers but the context does matter. He came over to a new country and was thrown into the fire with a sinking team.

The Philadelphia Flyers need Ivan Fedotov to be a good player in 2024-25

It was hardly his fault that they were unable to hang on. You can't expect a guy like that do get it done in such a high pressure situation.

This time around, he'll have a full training camp, preseason, and a start to the regular season with the team. He likely starts the year as the backup but that could change depending on what happens behind him.

Even if he is the backup for the entire season, having a good backup is important in the NHL. You can't make the playoffs without one.

At one point, it looked like Fedotov may never get over the North America to play in the NHL but now he is coming into a season considered to be a very important player for them.

The Flyers are going to come into 2024-25 with low expectations as a team. A great goaltending performance can make them surprise some folks. Ivan Fedotov can be in the middle of that.
