The Philadelphia Flyers are sure to be busy this summer. They are going to be hard at work making sure their roster is ready for a big 2023-24 season.

They were one of the Metropolitan's best teams last season but fell off after the trade deadline. They eventually missed playoffs altogether.

They should be very active on the trade/free agent front this off-season. They need to make some additions if they want to be good next year.

The Boston Bruins are one team for them to be thinking about. The B's have a few players that the Flyers could use to better their chances going forward. These three stick out the most:

The Philadelphia Flyers need help at goaltender going forward

The Flyers lost Carter Hart and he isn't coming back. On the hockey side of things, they need to find a way to replace him in the long term.

They have Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov but their future isn't clear when it comes to how productive they'll be. Help from the outside would be amazing for them.

The Bruins are going to shop Linus Ullmark (one year left on his deal) this summer. Whether they go through with it remains to be seen but the Flyers should be calling them on him all off-season.

Ullmark was the Vezina Trophy winner in 2022-23 and is a very good goaltender. The Bruins, however, are going to stick with Jeremy Swayman in the long term. He is also elite and younger. It is unfortunate but also the right decision for the Bruins to make.

If Ullmark came to the Flyers, he'd be their undisputed number-one guy. That would be one thing that they don't have to worry about anymore.

The Philadelphia Flyers could steal a defenseman from the Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins have a few decisions to make. One of their bigger ones is Matt Grzelcyk who is now an unrestricted free agent.

He is a 30-year-old defensive defenseman that will help any team be better. He isn't going to score a ton (although he will from time to time) but he defends so well.

If he went to the Flyers, he'd eat a bunch of minutes with an expectation that the opposition won't score when he is on the ice.

Boston may re-sign him if he wants to stay there. How much he commands in free agency may play a role in that for the Bruins.

However, if he does hit the market, the Flyers would be very wise to consider it on a deal that makes sense for both sides.

The Flyers would love to add a depth forward like Jake DeBrusk

The Philadelphia Flyers have some very good forwards. They also have a star prospect in Matvei Michkov coming eventually.

The belief is that Michkov is their future superstar. Even if that is true, however, they need some depth if they are going to start making playoff runs.

A guy like Jake DeBrusk is someone for the Flyers to consider. He is a gritty forward who is now an unrestricted free agent at 27 years old.

DeBrusk is a former first-round pick by the Boston Bruins and he has become a good NHL player. In 2023-24, he had 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 goals in 80 games.

This isn't a superstar or anything like that but he is a great middle-six contributor which contenders need.

DeBrusk also becomes a star in the playoffs. His game translates to the postseason very well. Yes, you have to make the playoffs but having guys that elevate their games when it matters most is important.
