TJ Brodie would fit in well on the Philadelphia Flyers blue-line next season

The Philadelphia Flyers could use some help on defense for the 2024-25 season. They could go for a free agent or two. The Maple Leafs have a couple becoming available.

TJ Brodie, Joel Edmundson, Mark Giordano, and Ilya Lyubushkin are all unrestricted free agents at the end of this season.

Of those names, TJ Brodie makes the most sense for the Flyers. Giordano is 40 years old and could be hanging them up while the other two may not be the better fit for the Flyers.

In 2023-24, Brodie had just one goal but he had 25 assists for 26 points in 78 games played. He was also better as the season went along.

He only cracked the lineup once in the playoffs after playing in 78 games this season but that speaks more to the play of some other Leafs defensemen down the stretch.

With a fresh start on a team like the Flyers, he might find success. It is worth considering for the team in orange.

All of these guys could come in on one-year deals or longer. If they are one-year deals, trading them for draft capital could be beneficial as well once the trade deadline comes around.
