Adam Henrique is an amazing free-agent option for the Flyers
Adam Henrique is an amazing free-agent option for the Philadelphia Flyers this summer.
The Edmonton Oilers just won a big game on Wednesday night. They tied their series with the Dallas Stars thanks to a 5-2 victory in Alberta.
The Oilers are star-studded. They have guys like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, and Evan Bouchard amongst others who can all make an impact.
At the deadline, they acquired Adam Henrique from the Anaheim Ducks where he had been for a long time. Before that, he was with the New Jersey Devils.
You might remember when New Jersey beat the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2012 second round. They went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final but were defeated by the Los Angeles Kings in six games. Henrique was a big part of that run to the Final. He scored some huge goals including two series winners in overtime.
The Philadelphia Flyers need a guy like Adam Henrique this summer
Now, Henrique is going to hit the free-agent market for the first time in his career this summer. He is someone that the Flyers should consider.
With Edmonton, he slots in perfectly as the third-line center behind McDavid and Draisaitl. His role gets elevated when they load up McDavid and Draisaitl onto one line but that doesn't happen often anymore.
If he were to come to the Flyers, he'd certainly get even more playing time with an opportunity to make an impact.
Henrique isn't an elite superstar but he can make some plays, score some goals, and is responsible in his own end. He is just the type of leader that this young Flyers team could use. He also has some experience winning in the playoffs which will help him as a leader.
This is a player who can also make an impact in all areas of the game. His scoring and defense were already mentioned. He is someone who can help at even strength, on the power play, and on the penalty kill.
With some of the young talent that is coming through soon, the Flyers need a guy like Henrique. If he has any interest, the Flyers need to be all over it.
