After failing to capitalize on a chance to further their playoff lead, the Flyers will try to do it again when they face Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks.

This is the second and final matchup between the two. The Flyers got goals from Travis Sanheim, Travis Konecny, and Garnet Hathaway in a 3-1 win back in February. Sam Ersson stopped 21 of 22 shots and had a rather easy night in net, never seeing more than eight shots in a period.

Philadelphia Flyers

This is a similar scenario as the Flyers faced in Montreal. Playing a lesser opponent who has nothing to lose, while Philadelphia could lose more than just a game if they don’t come out on top. The Capitals, just one point behind Philadelphia, have a much harder test against the Bruins. You have to take advantage of these situations.

The Flyers will get a big boost on defense with the return of Nick Seeler. He returns after suffering a lower-body injury against the Blues on Mar. 4. He will not only help the penalty kill, but the entire defense as a whole. They’ve held their own with numerous injuries on the backend, but having his presence will certainly help.

Travis Konecny has picked up his game again. He reached the 30-goal mark for the second straight season and is poised to hit a new career high. He has four goals in his last five games.

Flyers Projected Lineup

Owen Tippett - Morgan Frost - Travis Konecny

Joel Farabee - Scott Laughton - Bobby Brink

Tyson Foerster - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway

Noah Cates - Sean Couturier - Olle Lycksell

Cam York - Travis Sanheim

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks are coming off a 2-0 shutout loss to the Senators. It’s their second shutout in the last three games and third in the last seven. They have also scored five goals in two of their last three wins. Chicago bleeds goals against, averaging 3.53 goals against per game while scoring 2.18 goals themselves. They are 29th and 32nd in the leagues in those stats respectively.

Connor Bedard makes his only visit this season and leads all rookies in goals (21). In Chicago, he leads the team in all offensive categories, with 56 total points. Jason Dickinson has had a breakout season for the Hawks. He has a career high 20 goals and 33 points. He’s struggled lately, though, with two goals in the last 10 games.

Arvid Soderblom has struggled this season. In 27 games, he has posted a 4.02 GAA and a .876 SV%. He’s lost his last two games, giving up four goals in each. Dating back to Mar. 2, he’s given up four goals in four of his last five games. Soderblom got the win in one of those.
