Flyers, Devils send out AHL-level teams in preseason finale
The Flyers and Devils will have mostly AHL players in their lineups for the preseason finale.
With the New Jersey Devils NHL squad in Prague, both they and the Flyers will be putting out more of an AHL-level squad for the preseason finale.
While the majority of the players on the roster tonight will not be in the NHL, that does not mean that there isn't something to play for. There are more than a few players continuing to audition to be one of the first call-up options.
That includes Anthony Richard, playing in his sixth preseason game. Mind you, tonight will be the Flyers' seventh game. He is getting nearly every opportunity to prove himself to his new team. And Richard has done his part, looking like he belongs in the NHL. He had some experience with the Bruins and also looked the part there.
Players like Oscar Eklind and Rodrigo Abols will also continue their auditions. Both were overseas signings and are likely depth pieces if called up at some point. Olle Lycksell will get another game, though he should have a firm spot based on his play this preseason.
Jett Luchako was seen practicing with the NHL squad while Lycksell was on a separate ice, though. Rosters do not have to be finalized until Monday evening so we will see how this all plays out.
Flyers Roster
The Flyers did not run lines as most players on the roster are coming up from the Phantoms for this game. The team ran more of their NHL group instead. Darryl Williams did say that Ivan Fedotov will start the game with Alexei Kolosov coming on in relief. The latter impressed in his preseason action against the Islanders.
