After a huge win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Philadelphia Flyers will take on another top team in the Carolina Hurricanes.

This is the fourth and final game the two teams will play in the regular season. If the standings hold, the two will see each other in the first round of the playoffs. Carolina has won two of three games, outscoring the Flyers 7-3 in those two games. Philadelphia took a 3-1 in the other game. The two teams haven't seen each other since the end of November.

Philadelphia Flyers

While the Flyers earned their first win over Toronto since 2019, that wasn't the biggest story of the night. Sean Couturier was a healthy scratch a little over a month after being named captain. John Tortorella, per usual, did not get into specifics when asked after the game. It's fair to say that Couturier hasn't played well offensively lately, but was beginning to look like himself otherwise. But as Tortorella has shown, no one is above being held accountable.

The Flyers will take on one of the best teams in the league without their captain once again. Couturier is expected to remain a healthy scratch. This one may be more about not changing the lineup after a win than sending a message. Most coaches in the league follow this thought process. So it may take a Flyers loss to get Couturier back in. And based on his feelings on the initial scratch, he is likely to have plenty of fuel when he does return.

Philadelphia has gotten contributions from other players in their lineup recently. And it's been the youth that has helped keep the Flyers afloat during this tough stretch. Owen Tippett and Morgan Frost have four-game point streaks coming into the matchup against the Hurricanes. Tippett has three goals and seven points, while Frost has three goals and six points.

Tyson Foerster - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway

Nic Deslauriers - Noah Cates -- Olle Lycksell

Carolina Hurricanes

Plenty has changed since the last time the Flyers saw the Hurricanes. Since the trade deadline, Carolina has won seven of eight games. Their only loss came at the hands of Igor Shesterkin and the New York Rangers. They have been flying high and their newest additions have fit in perfectly.

Jake Guentzel, acquired from the Penguins, has eight points in his last four games. He went pointless in his first game with Carolina, the only time he was held without one since joining. Evgeny Kuznetsov, acquired from the Capitals, has rejuvenated himself during his time in Raleigh. He has five points in his last four games.

The Hurricanes will be shorthanded as Jack Drury, Teuvo Teravinen, and Jesper Fast are out of the lineup. Tony DeAngelo will enter as Carolina will be forced to go 11/7. DeAngelo has played in two of the three games against the Flyers thus far, tallying an assist in Carolina's loss to Philadelphia.

Since coming back from a blood clot, Freddie Andersen has been perfect for the Hurricanes. He has won four straight and has not given up more than two goals in any game. One of his wins was a shutout against the Panthers, a team that isn't easy to do that against. He has been their backbone recently and will face the Flyers for the second time this season.
