Flyers vs Jets, Game 52: Notes, Lineups, and How to Watch
After recently breaking their five-game losing streak, the Flyers will try to make it two in a row when they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to town.
This is the second and final meeting between the two teams. They last met on Jan. 13, where Sam Ersson stopped all 35 shots he faced in a 2-0 victory. Cam Atkinson broke a 26-game goalless drought, scoring both goals.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers got back on track in a 2-1 win over the Panthers on Tuesday night. After a sluggish first period, Philadelphia took the game over in the final two periods. John Tortorella spoke on the team’s effort, mentioning that’s how they need to play to win games. It was a welcome sight after the way they limped into the break.
Noah Cates scored his second goal of the season, breaking a 22-game goalless drought. He did miss some time with a broken foot from the end of November to mid-January. It’s been a tough season for him, as he was beginning to find his way before suffering the injury. Hopefully, that goal gives him the confidence he needs down the stretch.
Travis Konecny tapped in his 23rd of the season and is on track for his second consecutive 30-goal season. With a strong finish, he could top the 31 goals he scored last year with a strong finishHe. An even better finish could see him break his career-high of 61 points. Joel Farabee has also continued his strong play. Along with his new career high of 41 points, Farabee has tied his high in assists and needs just four more goals to set new marks in all offensive categories officially.
Flyers Projected Lineup
Owen Tippett - Sean Couturier - Cam Atkinson
Joel Farabee - Morgan Frost - Travis Konecny
Noah Cates - Ryan Poehling - Tyson Foerster
Scott Laughton - Garnet Hathaway
Travis Sanheim - Rasmus Ristolainen
Cam York - Jamie Drysdale
Nick Seeler - Sean Walker
Egor Zamula
Sam Ersson
Winnipeg Jets
While still one of the top teams in the West, the Jets are struggling right now. They were shut out by the Penguins in their first game back from the break and have lost four straight overall since the end of January. They have scored three total goals in those games.
They don’t have a player lighting up the scoresheet, as no one has topped 20 goals yet. Kyle Connor is the closest with 18 on the season. He has gone five games without registering a point, though. Mark Scheifele leads the team with 41 points, with five coming in the last seven games. Newly acquired Sean Monahan will be playing in his second game for Winnipeg. Injuries have derailed his career recently, so he will hope a fresh start puts that all behind him.
Connor Hellebuyck does the bulk of the work for the Jets, but it’ll be Laurent Brossoit facing the Flyers. This will be just his 13th game of the season. He does have seven wins, a 2.07 GAA, and a respectable .926 SV%. So the Flyers aren’t getting an easy night regardless of who is in the net.
Jets Projected Lineup
Kyle Connor - Mark Scheifele - Gabriel Vilardi
Cole Perfetti - Sean Monahan - Nikolaj Ehlers
Nino Niederreiter - Adam Lowry - Mason Appleton
Morgan Barron - Vladislav Namestnikov - Alex Iafallo
Josh Morrissey - Dylan DeMelo
Dylan Samberg - Neal Pionk
Logan Stanley - Nate Schmidt
Laurent Brossoit
