With training camp winding down, teams will begin to widdle down their final roster. Teams have to have them submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday. But it appears the Flyers have all but finalized their 2024-25 roster.

14 players were cut from training camp today, bringing them down to 23 players. There were quite a few surprises amongst the players heading to the Phantoms. But there was one name that wasn't on the cut list today.

Jett Luchanko remains in camp and has likely made the Flyers roster. Samu Tuomaala is the only player left who would be getting sent down as he was a part of the cuts. He was injured early on at camp and skated today in a normal practice jersey. The team is likely keeping him for an extra day since he missed so much time.

But the 18-year-old first-round pick from this summer has turned heads since he was drafted. Most fans were confused by his selection, but have since warmed around to him. He didn't necessarily stand out during the preseason, but the Flyers clearly like enough to keep him around this long.

Time will tell if he gets the nine-game audition and is sent back to Guelph, or if he will remain in the NHL for the entire season.

14 players cut from Flyers training camp

Here is where some of the surprises come in. With Luchanko seemingly making the final roster, two players were placed on waivers and will be sent to the Phantoms if/when they clear.

Olle Lycksell

Anthony Richard

Lycksell had a great preseason and seemed to have done everything he could to make the team. Same with Richard, though he was more of a numbers game than anything. Both of them could be up at some point during the season and should be some of the first options the Flyers look toward.

Nine other players were sent directly to the Phantoms as they do not need waivers to be sent down.

Rodrigo Abols

Oscar Eklind

Samu Tuuomaala

Emil Andrae

Adam Ginning

Helge Grans

Hunter McDonald

Alexei Kolosov

Cal Petersen

There aren't any surprises on this list. While Andrae stood out, John Tortorella confirmed the team was not keeping eight defensemen on the roster to start the season. He will be up at some point. Kolosov will get some games with the Phantoms to see where his game is at. He could also be up the Flyers during the season.

The Flyers had one player remaining who was on an AHL-only contract.

Cooper Marody

And lastly, two players were sent back to their junior team. It helps that they're going to the same place.

Denver Barkey

Oliver Bonk

Barkey never got a chance to make a case for himself as he missed the beginning of camp recovering from a bout of mono this summer. Bonk had his chance, but needs to work on getting up to speed with the NHL game. Both could fight for a chance to make the Flyers roster next season.
