You never know what Gritty's next move is going to be sometimes.

Whether he is grilling with Cam York and Jamie Drysdale, reviewing cheesesteaks around the city, or trying to find his next best friend on the team, you can always assume that Gritty is up to something.

The beloved Philadelphia mascot has a new endeavor—this time, it's for an excellent cause. Back in July, Gritty was able to persuade Scott Laughton to accompany him for a photoshoot. They weren't just any kind of photos, though. Yes, it was an awkward and sometimes ridiculous JCPenny photoshoot.

The two wore matching white shirts and denim shorts, posing in various ways such as back to back and making a heart with their arms. It turns out this was all done for a purpose. Or at least, the demand was high enough for those photos to be made into something else.

Flyers Charities announced on Wednesday evening that a t-shirt had been launched, inspired by the July photo shoot. Safe to say that Laughton and Gritty were very happy with the announcement.

100% of the proceeds from each shirt sold will benefit Flyers Charities and the Pennsylvania SPCA, which was Laughton's charity of choice. The shirts will be $39.99 and can be bought on the WFC Shop website. This is sure to be a very popular item.

It is just one of many ways that Scott Laughton has been able to give back to the sport and the community that he has called home since being drafted in 2012. Laughton and his wife, Chloe, have a heavy involvement in the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. They recently helped design a new Flyers-themed playroom and financially support dozens of families staying at the RMH.

Laughton continued his Flyers Pride Initiative, a program he began with former Flyer James van Riemsdyk. Laughton welcomes various members of the LGBTQ+ communities to a Flyers game. That involves a meet and greet after the game. Nearly 100 individuals were invited, spanning 20 home games. 50-plus people were also a part of the Flyers Pride Game in early January.

For the third straight season, Laughton was named the Flyers' nominee for the King Clancy Award. The award is awarded annually “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”

It's easy to see why Laughton is such a valued member of the Flyers organization, not only on the ice but off it as well. This partnership with Gritty is just one of many examples.
