The Philadelphia Flyers will get two great first round picks in June's draft.
The Philadelphia Flyers just came off a very interesting season. They came in looking like one of the worst teams in the league on paper.
They spent almost the entire season in a playoffs spot. It wasn't until late March that they fell off so badly that they fell completely out. They weren't eliminated until the final day of their season but it still stings nonetheless.
So what do you to bounce back from a season like that? Well, the focus should still remain on the future. That means they should worry about having a very strong draft.
Having two first-round picks will certainly help. They have their original pick which will be right around the edge of the top ten.

They also have the pick of the Florida Panthers who could pick anywhere in the 20s or 30s. That latter pick will all depend on how far Florida goes in the playoffs. Philly landed this selection in the trade that sent Claude Giroux to Florida.
It is very important for their rebuild that they hit on these two picks. There will be some very good prospects to pick from with their pick and Florida's pick has potential to be a diamond in the rough of the first round.
Things have mostly been going well when it comes to their drafting and developing but it needs to continue. If they want to eventually get back to being Cup contenders, they need to add more.
The Flyers are already doing well in the Giroux trade because Owen Tippett is a very good player for them. If they could draft a star using that Florida pick, they would be doing even better.
There is a slight chance that the Flyers move into the second overall pick due to the draft lottery that will take place on May 7th.
If that were the case, they'd be sure to get a star prospect with a high ceiling in the NHL. Despite what happens with that, they should be able to draft a good player (two including the Florida draft pick) no matter what.
