Things continue to get worse and worse for the Philadelphia Flyers
Things continue to get worse and worse for the Philadelphia Flyers as time goes on.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the worst teams in the NHL for a little while now. They went from being a playoff lock in the Metropolitan Division to a team on the outside looking in.
Right now, the Flyers have lost seven in a row and are 2-5-3 in their last ten games. It has been a disaster, to say the least.
John Tortorella was going to be in the conversation for coach of the year but that won't happen if this team doesn't end up making it.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings are both tied with 84 points. Detroit is holding the Wild Card spot because of a tiebreaker.
The Philadelphia Flyers are slumping but they still have a chance
The Flyers sit with 83 points which means they are far from out of it but they must win their final few remaining games to have a shot.
Philadelphia will be in Quebec on Tuesday to take on the Montreal Canadiens. To say this is a must-win game for them would be an understatement. If they don't win, you can pretty much kiss the playoffs returning to Philadelphia goodbye.
Ever since the Flyers lost Carter Hart, they haven't had NHL goaltending which has played a big role in their downfall. However, the skaters deserve some of the blame too as certain guys stopped producing what they were before this current slump.
How do you break out of this bad stretch? Well, it is on Tortorella to first make sure that this team is motivated. He has to remind them that they are still in this. They have worked so hard to be in this position when nobody thought that they could so it would be great to see them finish it off.
If they get this win over Montreal, they have a chance. If they don't, they are in big trouble. Leading up to this game, things have been getting worse and worse for this team so this is thier chance to turn the tides.
