Travis Konecny, Travis Sanheim, and Tyson Foerster were among the first 15 players named to Team Canada’s roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championship, Hockey Canada announced this week.

Konecny and Sanheim previously represented Canada in the NHL 4 Nations Tournament during the 2024–25 season. Canada defeated the United States 3–2 in overtime to win the tournament, though neither Flyer registered a point.

The 2024-25 season was a tumultuous one for the Philadelphia Flyers, but all three players had banner years. They also serve important roles in the current core and rebuild of the Flyers' team.

Konecny, an alternate captain, led the Flyers this season with 76 points, including a team-high 52 assists and 24 goals—marking his third consecutive 20+ goal campaign. He scored 31 and 33 goals in the previous two seasons, respectively. Konecny also suited up for Canada in the 2017 IIHF World Championship, where he tied for second on the team with eight assists in 10 games. That team, which also included Flyers teammates Sean Couturier, Wayne Simmonds, and Claude Giroux, earned silver after a shootout loss to Sweden in the final.

Sanheim continued to establish himself as a dependable top-pairing defenseman in 2024–25, providing stability on the back end, while contributing offensively. He led all Flyers defensemen with eight goals, 22 assists, and 30 points, and logged heavy minutes in all situations. Sanheim, a smooth skater with a high hockey IQ+, often found himself on the top penalty kill and power play lines.

This will be Foerster’s first appearance in the World Championship. The 23-year-old winger wrapped up his third full NHL season with a career-high 25 goals, second on the team, and 43 points, fifth overall. As Philadelphia's roster continues to take shape for next season, he will be well positioned to have a breakout year.
