The Philadelphia Flyers are surprising many fans for their strong start to the season. Entering Tuesday night, the Flyers were 15-9-3, which is good in the midst of a crowded playoff picture in the Metropolitan Division. Trevor Zegras has received plenty of credit for what he's brought to the Flyers, as he leads the team with 26 points.

But there is another player contributing to the Flyers' success, and that's forward Travis Konecny. On Tuesday night, Konecny reached an incredible milestone.

Konecny secured his 500th and 501st career points in the Flyers' 4-1 win on Tuesday. Konecny secured his spot in the 500 points club by assisting on Christian Dvorak's game-tying goal in the first period.

Konecny secured his 501st point on an empty net goal at the end of the game to officially clinch the 4-1 victory.

It's quite the accomplishment for Konecny, who has been a consistent for most of his career. In each of the last three seasons, Konecny put up over 60 points. After his performance on Tuesday, Konecny is on pace to secure 73 points.

So far this year, Konecny has eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points through 28 games. Konecny has been on fire as of late, securing a point in each of his last five games. In three of those games, Konecny secured two points. The Flyers have needed Konecny's production, especially lately, with Tyson Foerster sidelined for two-to-three months due to an upper body injury.

Konecny has the second-most points on the team, by a considerable margin. Owen Tippet ranks third with 19 points. Given his hot streak, Konecny could catch up to Zegras for the lead.

Konecny does have a bit to prove. There is a lot of buzz regarding who could make Team Canada for the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy this upcoming February. Konecny felt like a lock to make the roster, but The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun hinted that Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals could take his spot on the Team Canada roster. Team Canada general manager Doug Armstrong has tough decisions to make, as Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks, Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks, and Nick Suzuki of the Montreal Canadiens are making serious cases to make the roster.

For Konecny, he is making an important impact in helping the Flyers take their next step forward, back into Stanley Cup contention. There is still plenty of season left, and the team can make some moves to further help their chances. While Zegras and goalie Dan Vladar have received most of the credit, Konecny's contributions can not go unnoticed.
