The Philadelphia Flyers goaltender has revealed another stunning mask that he’ll wear throughout the 2019-20 season.
About a month ago, Philadelphia Flyers goalie prospect Samuel Ersson unveiled a new mask that he’ll sport for his first full year in the SHL. Created by Dave Gunnarsson, the bucket was tiger-themed and had wet paint running down the surface to serve as the stripes of the tiger. Now, current Flyers netminder Brian Elliott has revealed some new headgear of his own, and it’s yet another masterpiece the journeyman can add to his collection.
The mask, which was designed by Franny Drummond, has a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles concept to it with character Casey Jones being featured on both the right and left sides of the helmet. Elliott’s Moose logo is showcased on the back, with his initials “BE” stapled on the nose of the animal. The initials and birth dates of his two children are also along the right side of the moose, and the Wisconsin Badgers logo is on the left of it, paying homage to his alma mater. You can view the headgear in its’ entirety on Elliott’s Instagram account here.
The 34-year-old goaltender is no stranger to cool-looking masks. When he was with the St. Louis Blues back in 2014, Elliott wore a beautiful, Veterans Day-inspired bucket that honored the armed forces and a moose-centric hard-hat that he wore for part of the 2013-14 season, until it was sadly destroyed in some sort of fashion. He’s had his fair share of fancy masks during his time with the Flyers, too, most recently showing respect to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Flyers 2019 Stadium Series clash and eventual win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Lincoln Financial Field.
I’ve always been a huge fan of goalie masks and I like that they’re each able to show their creative sides with different types of designs. I’m also excited to see what Carter Hart will have in-store in terms of helmet art, as he’s had some awesome graphics in the past.
