This week’s serving of Broad Street Buzz content you might have missed.

The week kicked off by the Philadelphia Flyers announcing that forward Travis Konecny would be out indefinitely with a concussion he suffered in the 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators. Though this news was nothing short of disappointing, the Flyers could let it break their spirits.

So…the Flyers power play. Not too great as of late, gang. Why is that? We decided to break it down. *D-Generation X theme intensifies*

The annual FanSided 250 list arrived and the Flyers landed at 214 among the hottest fandoms in the country.

Netting six points in his last six games, Scott Laughton was highlighted as a player to watch for Philadelphia as they took on the Colorado Avalanche to kick off a three-game road trip.

The shorthanded Fly Guys struggled with the depth of the Avalanche and eventually fell to the Western Conference squad by a score of 3-1.

As I mentioned above, Philadelphia’s had their fair share of injuries recently and needed these three players to rev up their efforts to try and fill some of those voids.

How have Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost faired since being called up to the Flyers roster? (Spoiler alert: They’ve been just fine.)

In absolutely heartbreaking news that’s much bigger than the game of hockey, forward Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. We would, once again, like to give our best wishes to Lindblom and his family at this time and hope for a quick and most importantly full recovery.

Do you know how I said that the Flyers power-play had been struggling? Well, it would’ve been nice to see the unit come alive vs the Minnesota Wild.

And, well, it didn’t. Philly lost two more forwards to separate injuries and evidently lost to the Wild 4-1.

Philadelphia had to shut down a red hot Mark Scheifele if they wanted their best shot at beating the Winnipeg Jets.

Yeah…That didn’t happen. The Jets exploded for four goals in the second period and ended up blowing out the Flyers 7-3 when all was said and done. Though the loss was tough to swallow, three players still played well for the Orange and Black in the game.

The Flyers are now 17-10-5 as they enter a new week. They’ll be back at it on Tuesday as they play host to the Anaheim Ducks.
