It’s yet another blow to the Flyers young prospects looking to crack the lineup. Tanner Laczynski will likely need season ending surgery on his other hip. Wade Allison may also need surgery on a high ankle sprain he suffered in the rookie game in Voorhees. And now Egor Zamula will be shelved for a few weeks as well.

After appearing on the injury report on Thursday morning, Alain Vigneault confirmed that Zamula will be out for around the next three to four weeks.

"“He’s got a slight strain, I think Grade 1 and a half or 2 which should take him out of the lineup for about three to four weeks.”“I’m not sure if it’s groin or hip. It’s one or the other. They told me this morning but sometimes I don’t remember exactly what I’m told…But at the end of the day I was told it was three to four weeks.”"

Zamula was a long shot to make the Flyers’ roster but he had a good showing in the team’s overtime loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. He scored the opening goal of the game on a blast from the point.

The Phantoms open up their season on October 16th so it is possible that Zamula may not end up missing much time with them. Depending on when he returns, he could miss anywhere from two to five games. But it is still a tough blow as he will be out for the remainder of training camp. The Flyers will have to go off what they saw from him in rookie camp and the first week of training camp.

He’ll almost certainly be assigned to the Phantoms once he returns from injury. Zamula had the opportunity to get his feet wet in the NHL last season, appearing in two games at the end of April. It was certainly a different game than he was used to, but Zamula felt a comfort level as the game went on.

"”I mean, it’s the best league in the world with a lot of good players, fast players, skilled players. It’s a little bit different level than the AHL but I tried working hard every shift and tried to play fast,” Zamula said after his NHL debut.”It’s a different level and I need to be ready to play here.”"

It’ll be a bit longer before Zamula will have the chance to put on the Flyers jersey once again. He should be one of the top candidates to be called up when he does return from injury.
