After two games at home, the Philadelphia Flyers are back on the road, this time for a five-game stretch. While this trip will take the Flyers to the West Coast of Canada, their first stop is a close one: Madison Square Garden. Philadelphia will take on a Metropolitan Division rival in the New York Rangers. Here are your storylines and potential lineup as the Flyers get ready to take on the Garden.
Flyers storylines
Forward Matvei Michkov has been off to a phenomenal performance. In his last nine games, he has notched nine points and is currently on a three-game point streak. The Flyers haven't had the greatest start to the season, so it feels like his performance has gone under the radar. As the Flyers get ready to take on the Rangers tonight, they will need Michkov to continue this hot streak he has been on.
Three of the four Flyers' wins of the season were recorded at home. Their sole road win so far was against the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 21. Now that Philadelphia is about to play five straight games on the road, and this is their farthest road trip of the season so far, the Flyers need to start this trip off on a good note.
Philadelphia started November with a win against the Utah Mammoth but ultimately fell to the Minnesota Wild on Nov. 3. This is just their third game of the month, and they are 1-1. There is still time to turn November around, especially after a poor October.
The player to watch in this game is Cole Knuble. He is projected to center the third line, adding depth to the bottom six. He played in his first NHL game against Buffalo, where he scored his first two NHL goals. He scored his third against Utah on Sunday. It'll be interesting to see if he can add another goal to his tally, but regardless, he has been a phenomenal player to watch in his first few NHL games.
