The Philadelphia Flyers made it into the playoffs and picked up a series win over the rival Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round. The team is prepared to run it back with the majority of their roster from last season, with the opportunity to potentially add some more pieces. The free agency market isn't the best, making the trade block the best opportunity for the Flyers to make a splash if they so choose.

The Flyers already struck on the trade market, acquiring goalie Joseph Woll and defenseman Simon Benoit from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for goaltender Sam Ersson, defenseman Emil Andrae and a 2026 third-round pick. But could they make another deal with another team to try and improve their roster? Let's not forget, they could use some defensive help and players to improve their power play. But could that come at the expense of another player.

Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos unveiled his latest trade board, which featured Flyers winger Owen Tippett. While Kypreos doesn't see the Flyers moving Tippett for a minimal return, he says they are open to it as they try "shaking things up."

Danny Briere reportedly open to trading Owen Tippett to get Flyers 'to the next level'

"Tippett is in the same category as [Matthew Knies] in that a team is really going to have to blow the socks off GM Daniel Briere to get a deal done. There is value in shopping him right now because there is flexibility on his trade list, which has just 10 'no-trade teams," writes Kypreos. "Briere is willing to listen, but Tippett is getting healthy again after an internal bleeding issue kept him out of the second round of the playoffs. He's going to start lifting weights again this week and will be back. The only reason he's on my trade board is because the Flyers are interested in shaking things up and exploring all their options trying to get the team to the next level."

This doesn't mean that Tippett is going to be dealt this offseason for sure. Rather, Briere and the Flyers are keeping their options open in case there is an opportunity for them to make a splash move.

It's no secret that Tippett is already garnering interest from other teams. Earlier this month, it was reported by the Fouth Period's David Pagnotta that the Edmonton Oilers were a team that was interested in trading for Tippett this offseason. But much like Kypreos, Pagnotta says that this is more of a case of Briere listening to offers instead of actively trying to trade him.

Tippett is coming off of a strong 2025-26 regular season, where he scored a team-high 28 goals while recording the third-most points with 51. In the playoffs, Tippett recorded one goal and one assist through six games. Tippett missed the entirety of their second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes after dealing with an internal bleeding issue.

For the Flyers, it's unknown what kind of trade they could target. Brady Tkachuk is off the board. Dylan Larkin doesn't appear to be an option for them. They are linked to Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse, but would Tippett really be part of a trade package? This offseason has been a wild one so far, and there's a possibility more stars try to break free from their current teams.

As of now, it doesn't seem like Tippett will be on the move from Philadelphia barring a superstar becoming a feasible target for the Flyers.
