Flyers at Devils, Game 81: Notes, Lineups, And How To Watch
The Philadelphia Flyers are getting set to play against the New Jersey Devils with everything on the line.
The New Jersey Devils are in Philly to take on the Philadelphia Flyers for the final time this season. It hasn't been an easy matchup for either team.
The Devils won't be going to the playoffs as a few different factors forced them to have a bad letdown year. As for the Flyers, they are much better than people would have thought coming in but still are in danger of losing a playoff spot that they worked so hard to have.
To say this is a must-win game would be an understatement. Even if they win game 81 and 82 they could be in trouble but losing one would be detrimental. This is the kind of contest that they should leave it all out there.
This is going to be a special game celebrating a Flyers great as well. Wayne Simmonds has signed a one day contract to retire as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. He was a tremendous player for them as they competed for the playoffs together for years.
Simmonds also had a cup of coffee with the New Jersey Devils after his Flyers tenure so this matchup makes a ton of sense for this celebration.
Philadelphia Flyers
With everything on the line, you can only hope that John Tortorella is able to put his magic to work. He has been a wizard at getting the most out of these guys this season and now is when they need him the most. If they come ready to play, they should be able to have a chance.
This is a young group. Playing in must-win situations like this is very hard for younger players experiencing them for the first time. It is also some great experience that will help them for a long time.
