With another week of preseason play left, the Philadelphia Flyers have made another round of cuts to their roster.
This cut focuses solely on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms as all of the players loaned will be playing in the AHL. That means that Jett Luchanko and Oliver Bonk have lived to see another day. They may not end up making the final roster, but it's a strong indictment of how the team feels that both are still in camp.
Flyers cut eight players from training camp roster
While every player on the list will be heading to the Phantoms, three players must clear waivers before making it there. Highlighting the list is Ronnie Attard. Far down the depth list at this point, Attard needed to have a standout camp to even stay afloat. Unfortunately, he was a disaster against the Montreal Canadiens. Numerous turnovers leading to goals for high-danger chances against all but set his fate.
The Flyers didn't cut him immediately after that game, but he did himself no favors nonetheless.

The next three players are on NHL deals but have been assigned to the Phantoms roster. Desnoyers is looking to have a bounce-back year and put himself in a situation that could lead to a call-up. Rizzo had his first chance to show the team what he could do after an injury kept him out of the bulk of development camp.

Lastly, the two remaining players were on AHL-only deals, therefore they would not be able to play for the Flyers without an updated deal. Gaucher was given the chance to play in multiple preseason games so the team may like what he brings to the table. But they don't have a spot on their NHL roster at this time. And while they seem to like him, it may not be enough to convert his deal to an NHL one.
